1 Week Down, 51 To Go

So I got through the first week of 2013!  Hooray for the small victories.

It was a three day work week, but seems to linger on forever.  When I woke up Saturday morning, I knew I needed some yoga in my life.  Did I ever mention how much I love my yoga studio?  Karen, the awesome director taught a challenging all levels class that left me feeling focused for the day.

When I got home, I was all about the juicer.  One of my mini-goals is to get familiar with juicing.  Saturday was my third try and it was a success.  I had some kale, pear, apple, carrot juice.  Next time I might skip the carrots, but it was still yummy.  Any suggestions on juice recipes or books  are welcome.

Breakfast is served.
Once I was had all my nutrients, we spent the day taking Christmas out of our house.  It was a nice tree (Thanks Guyon Rescue for the tree!), but it was time to go.  It was nice to have extra space.  Well, at least for a few minutes until the kids started opening all the Christmas gifts that had been hidden under the tree.  Now a crayola art "studio" sits were the tree previously did.  Ah, the joys of parenthood.

Sunday morning I was up early and ready to run.  It was my first trail run of 2013 with my Shaolin Killa Beez.  It was so great to be out running with my team again.  I was also grateful that it wasn't as cold as it had been earlier in the week.  It's not that I don't run outside in the cold, it's just that I do not enjoy it.  Kudos to the runners who love when their faces are burning from the cold and the tears and sweat are freezing on their faces.  Call me a punk if you will, but I am actually grateful for a treadmill in the bitter cold.  But, I digress.  We ran up to the top of Moses Mountain in Staten Island and back down.  Hopefully I can have more Sunday morning trails this year.

While I am trying to "get back to normal" with my health and fitness, I still need to work on my mental health.  My house is gone forever.  We moved and forwarded our mail.  We got furniture and appliances (Thank you Toni, Ashley and all of you!).  We are living there at least for a few months.  I need to find ways to make this place fill more like a home.  I need to find ways to accomplish this.  This will be one of my goals this month.  Any suggestions are welcome.

Goals for the Week:
Run 3 days this week for at least 10 miles total (at least 1 outside)
Start studying my Personal Trainer Certification materials again
Find ways to make the apartment find like a home

  1. I'm on a 21 day juice fast right now, so I'm doing a lot of juicing! I just google 'juice recipes', and get a ton! I also get a bunch from this website http://www.fatsickandnearlydead.com
One of my faves is 1/2 beet, fresh pineapple, a few carrots and a little piece of ginger. I love juicing!
