"We have received your cancellation notice for the ING New York City Marathon 2011.
We’re sorry to hear that you won’t be participating in this year’s event. You are eligible for guaranteed entry into the ING New York City Marathon 2012. Please note that you must still apply for guaranteed entry into the 2012 event and pay the entry fees as well as applicable optional fees.
Now that you have cancelled, you cannot be reinstated into the ING New York City Marathon 2011. Your decision was final."
I won't lie, it stung. S I did what I could. Those who run, do, those who can't, volunteer at races! So, I volunteered for Marathon Sunday at Fort Wadsworth. If you are looking for me (and you better if you are there!), I will be the food court attendant at Fort Wadsworth wearing the I Heart Sweat shirt! :) It's from 4 a.m. to 11 a.m., which is earlier than I planned on heading to Wadsworth (since I live on the Island of Staten) but hey. I volunteered twice in the past and it was alot of fun.
So, with that... I'm in... 2012!
I also got my x-ray results back this morning and there is nothing to see there. Next is an MRI. Of course, I have to wait until my insurance company agrees to it first. I'll keep you posted. Until then, elliptical in the morning at the gym. 45 sweaty minutes today. I definitely felt it!
AND I got this in the mail yesterday from Amylee. I won her giveaway!! It's a beautiful Scott James jewelry charm and I will wear it in good health.
Lastly, my thoughts are with Emily of Daily Garnish today. She gave birth this morning after 55 hours of hard labor. Best wishes to you, Casey and #BabyMalone (who was a Twitter trending topic before even leaving the womb.)
Did you ever have to cancel a marathon? Did the letter feel like a break up?
Did you ever win a giveway? What was it?
Congrats to your friend and her baby! YAY - love babies. Also good that the xray came back clean and it'll be great once the MRI is over and hopefully all is well. I think the final "your decision was final" would sting a bit :P ouch! that email was so direct. I think listening to your body and making those hard decisions is GREAT though! just think now next year you;ll be able to run it instead of perhaps having this race be your last. Good for you. I am contemplating signing up for a marathon in 2012....maybe we could run one together I'll fly out there!
ReplyDeleteReally!?! I'm in for a marathon in 2012 with ya!!!
